Global Health events in New York on occasion of the 77th UN General Assembly

The following two weeks will hold exciting Global Health events around the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, in which you can participate online. We have compiled some highlights for you:

United Nations General Assembly:

Opening of the 77th UN General Assembly (UNGA)

Tuesday 13th September, 9:00 PM (CEST)

The 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will open on Tuesday, 13 September 2022 at the UN Headquarters in New York, in the first in-person format since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Heads of states and governments from 193 Member States will exchange statements on the theme “A watershed moment: transformative solutions to interlocking challenges”.

The Alliance for Gender Equality and UHC; Spectra; Women Deliver; Women in Global Health: 

UHC High-Level Meeting 2023: Visioning Strong Health Systems Built on Women’s Rights

Thursday 15th September, 2:30 PM (CEST)

Despite many steps forward, strong and gender-responsive health systems remain lacking, and women and girls are disproportionately affected by crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic. As this year's UN General Assembly marks one year away from the 2023 High-Level Meeting on UHC, this event aims to provide opportunities to continue momentum and action for gender equality in UHC and examine the challenges and explore gender-responsive UHC.

The Global Food Crisis, a Global Protection Crisis: Its Impact on Refugees, Internally Displaced People and Host Communities

Thursday 15th September, 4:00-5:30 PM (CEST)

Ahead of UNGA77 High-Level Week, this event will focus on the global food crisis and its impact on refugees, internally displaced people and host communities.
